The Canada Safety Council’s 55 Alive Mature Driving Course has been designed to help Canadians 55 years and over to maintain their independence and their driving privileges.

This course is designed to help you… gain more confidence behind the wheel, Improve your awareness of traffic hazards, Update yourself on traffic laws and new technology, Anticipate the action of the other drivers, Identify and correct bad driving habits and Voice you concerns in a friendly relaxed environment.
We encourage you to share what you learn in this course with members of your family, neighbours and co-workers. This will increase the effectiveness of the course in dealing with traffic collision problems everywhere.
Topics covered by the 55 ALIVE MATURE DRIVING COURSE include:
1) Description of the characteristics of a Mature driver.
2) Physical changes that affect the “Mature Driver” and how they affect driving performance.
3) Interacting with traffic – Seat Belts – Basic rules of driving, right-of-way, turning, passing, road signs.
4) Interacting with Traffic – Entering and leaving highways, parking, and backing.
5) Collision prevention, adverse conditions, other road users.
6) Review, group discussion and wrap-up
7) Each course is conducted by instructors recruited and trained by the Canada Safety Council.
8) The 6 Hour Course is given in a classroom setting with instructor guidance.
9) This program is presented using a combination of slides, student workbooks and group discussion.
COURSE FEES:
One-Day $55
Plus travel expense if Instructor travels over 50 km to and from training site.
Minimum number of participants per training session is 12.
